Argonne/Fermilab accelerator event on April 28

April 28, 2015

Fermilab, Batavia, IL

Today there are more than 30,000 accelerators in operation around the world, and the vast majority of them are being used by industry. A beam of the right particles with the right energy at the right intensity can shrink a tumor, produce cleaner energy, spot suspicious cargo, make a better radial tire, clean up dirty drinking water, map a protein, design a new drug, make a heat-resistant automotive cable, diagnose a disease, reduce nuclear waste, detect an art forgery, implant ions in a semiconductor, prospect for oil, or package a Thanksgiving turkey.

At Argonne and Fermilab, we offer some of the world’s most advanced facilities for the development and testing of accelerators. At the April 28 event, we will offer tours of these exceptional facilities along with opportunities to talk with some of the world’s leading accelerator experts. We hope this new program will serve as a catalyst to broaden and strengthen the community that relies on accelerators and accelerator technology.

Registration is free, but tour space is limited. To register, view the agenda, or get more information:
