IHIF Board of Directors Approves New Vision and Mission Statements

March 18, 2015 – The Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF) is pleased to announce and share new Vision and Mission Statements for the organization.  The statements were approved by the IHIF Board of Directors during their quarterly meeting on March 12, 2015.

“IHIF’s strong leadership in the state’s health science sector stems from the organization’s dedication to its guiding principles.  However, as IHIF grows, it is important that we examine how those principles function in relation to our activities and membership.  The board felt that some adjustments were in order as we are entering a growth and planning phase,” said Elaine Lee, Chair of the IHIF Board of Directors.

IHIF has created a Vision statement to guide the association’s activities:

“To be a recognized leader in shaping policies that spawn a dynamic life sciences ecosystem in Indiana.  Through leadership, collaboration, and effective execution of strategic instruments, such as IHIF’s “Statewide Strategic Plan for Indiana’s Health Science Sector”, IHIF will facilitate enhanced membership and advocacy.”

“Vision statements help organizations focus their activities and resources”, said Eric Marr, IHIF’s Vice-Chairman, “they set standards of excellence and are ambitious, and most importantly, give members a common understanding of direction and intent.  By adopting this vision statement, I think IHIF has further defined its value to the state’s health science community”.   The board will evaluate the Vision Statement on an annual basis to assure it’s relevancy.

The board also adapted the organization’s former Purpose Statement as it’s new Mission Statement:

The diverse members of the Indiana Health Industry Forum generate the collective voice of the state’s health and life science industry.  Our mission is to connect key stakeholders to: enhance business networks, advocate for member interests, develop workforce skills, and provide strategic vision in the interest of growing the state’s health industry economy and reputation.

“This change provides more clarity on IHIF’s direct value proposition to members and the business community”, said Dr. Joerg Schreiber, past-president of the IHIF Board.  Where there may have been confusion in the past, this clearly identifies IHIF’s very specific and unique contributions to the advancement of the industry in the state”.
