Health IT Corporate College Training Through Ivy Tech

Health Information Technology is a demanding, growing profession that requires specialized skills. As working professionals with a background in either Healthcare or Information Technology, you are eligible to participate in a 6-month online training program in a collaborative partnership between Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and Cuyahoga Community College/Tri-C, sponsored by the Midwest Training Consortium – a product of the Office of the National Coordinator.

A NEED FOR WORKERS: Studies by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Education, and other sources project that as many as 50,000 additional HIT professionals may be needed over the next five years to support the implementation and optimization of electronic health records in the United States.

• Practice workflow and information management redesign specialists
• Clinician/practitioner specialists
• Implementation support specialists
• Implementation managers
• Technical/software support staff
• Trainers
• Completed within six months
• Curriculum development based on regional groups of faculty from leading universities.
• Mostly online (approximately 12 required hours of face-to-face class time).
• Short-term, noncredit certificate
• Hybrid delivery combines online learning, face-to-face coursework and hands-on labs
• For working professionals
OUTCOMES: The program will provide people with the skills to thrive in the health information technology field. Trained professionals may have an opportunity to work for a diverse range of employers, including health care providers and physician practices, as well as electronic health record software and IT vendors.
ENROLLMENT: To apply for training in this program, and dual-enrollment to Tri-C and Ivy Tech, potential students need to complete an online application. New cohorts begin monthly and a background check is required.
